The number of foreign tourists visiting Sumatera Utara through 4 (four)
entrances in December 2017 reached 27,978 visits, an increase of 11.95
percent compared to those coming in November 2017 reaching 24,991
visits. However, when compared to the same month in 2016, the number of
foreign tourists in December 2017 fell by 3.36 percent, from 28,950
visits in December 2016 to 27,978 visits.
• The period of
January-December 2017, the number of foreign tourists visiting in
Sumatera Utara increased 12.02 percent compared to the same period in
2016, ie from 233,643 visits in 2016 to 261,736 visits in 2017.

In December 2017, foreign tourists from Malaysia are the most visitors
with 16,254 visits or 58.10 percent of total foreign tourists visiting
Sumatera Utara.
• The star-rated room occupancy rate (CLR) of
star-rated hotels in North Sumatera in December 2017 reached an average
of 58.27 percent, an increase of 16.41 points compared to November 2017
of 41.86 percent.
• The average length of stay of foreign
guests and Indonesian guests at star-rated hotels in December 2017 was
1.58 days, up 0.21 points compared to November 2017.
• The
number of domestic passengers departing from Sumatera Utara through
Kualanamu International Airport during December 2017 reached 318,806
people, up 5.87 percent compared to November 2017 which reached 301,136
people.
• The number of inter-island sea passengers who
departed in December 2017 was 6,544 people, up 212.36 percent compared
to 2,095 in the previous month.
